Taking place at the 2024 TAB May Racing Carnival on Thursday (May 2), Fashions on the Field at the Bool has established itself as one of the most anticipated country race wear contests in the state.

Featuring five race wear categories and fantastic prizes to win, it’s no wonder Warrnambool welcomes fashionistas from across the state to compete in this hotly contested event.

Online entries close on Monday, April 29, alternatively registrations will be taken on-course on Thursday, May 2 at the Fashions Stage.

All entrants must be 18 years and older, with both men and women encouraged to get involved.

Located on the Back Lawn, heats for both female and male entrants will start after race two followed by the announcement of category finalists.

Judges this year are as follows:

Sarah Duffy

After years of attending the races with family and friends, Sarah brought together her line of work in media, entertainment and events and her love of attending the races and started hosting Fashions on the Field events around Victoria.

After hosting many Fashions on the Field events, she is partial to seeing vintage and op shop items incorporated into outfits as it brings personality, originality and sustainability to a full out.

She loves to see people use fashion as an extension of who they are but says what makes an outfit stand out more than another is the person wearing it – so bring a smile, lots of colour and a fun outgoing attitude to complete any outfit.

Kerrie Hayes

From being inducted into the Stonnington Fashion Hall of Fame in 2009, Kerrie’s addiction and love affair with millinery has allowed her to create individual hats which are designed with elegance.

Her addiction and love affair with millinery has allowed her to create individual hats which are designed with elegance to compliment face shape and the outfit to be worn.

She believes your hat is just as important as your smile so don’t hide behind it and show it off as it is a part of who you area.

Jessica Ryan

As a past winner of Fashions on the Field at Warrnambool (having won Traditional Lady in 2023), Jessica has always loved race day fashion and the joy of planning her own outfit.

She has grown up working in racing, working for some of the prominent racing stables within the industry.

She has a passion in restoring preloved and vintage items and is looking forward to seeing the contestants’ outfits and their personalities shine at this year’s event.
