Merrivale to host repair cafe

DO you have something that needs mending, repairing or altering?

By Staff Writer

The Merrivale Community Association is currently planning to host regular ‘Repair Café’ sessions at the Merrivale football clubrooms, starting in June.

The association looks set to host the free café for residents to repair, reuse and renew household items such as bicycles, clothing, garden tools, toys, furniture and more.

Repair Café is a worldwide movement that encourages people to repair and reuse items rather than discard them.

This then helps extend the lifespan of products, reduce waste and lower the environmental impact of consumption.

A community information session has been planned for Friday, May 3 at the A.L. Lane Pavilion in Hyland Street, Warrnambool.

Guest speaker will be Brenda O’Connor from the Merrivale Community Association.

A second information session will be held on Monday May 6 from 7pm-8pm at the Merrivale football clubrooms, Merrivale Drive, Warrnambool.

Guest speaker will be Natasha Mills from the Port Fairy Repair Café.

The Merrivale group is keen to hear from residents about what they feel needs repairing and/or what skills they may be able to contribute.

For more information contact Brenda O’Connor (association secretary) via merrivaleca@gmail.com.
