A step back in time

WITH everything from a working blacksmith through to giant spinning wheels and a hand shearing display, visitors were taken on a journey back in time at ‘Wreckfest’ last weekend.

Visitors to the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum and Village were treated to a colourful and entertaining glimpse into what life was like in a 19th century port as part of this year’s ‘Wreckfest’ celebrations.

Warrnambool’s Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum and Village came alive as volunteers took visitors back 150 years for an emersion into the lives of our forefathers and a glimpse into how they lived. 

Working displays, Devonshire teas, a lighthouse display, quilters, spinners and a range of children’s activities ensured there was something for everyone. 

The firing of an 80lb cannon by the Garrison staff proved a popular attraction as did entertainment provided by local musicians and bands.
