Aero club on a high
MEMBERS of the Warrnambool Model Aircraft Club are on a high following a successful ‘fun fly’ last weekend.
Perfect weather conditions saw crowds flock through the gates of the Koroit air strip over the two days, with more than 25 model aircraft on display.
“From all accounts, and from feedback we’ve received since the weekend, this year’s Fun Fly was one of the best we’ve had in recent years,” club member Wayne Fairy said.
“I’m a relatively new member to the club, and I still have a lot to learn, but I do know it was an absolutely wonderful weekend.
“It was a bit windy on the second day but flying conditions were great for day one. There was between 25 and 30 planes there so people had lots to see and several took to the skies and put on a great display.”
It’s anticipated that money raised over the weekend will go towards replacing a mower for the club, along with some much needed work on the air strip.
“At the moment we’re having a bit of trouble with a weed in the strip so we’re looking at putting in some gypsum and lime, and the field also needs aerating,” Mr Fairy said.
“But there’s always something to do and events such as last weekend helps towards the cost of these things.”
