Anzac weekend draws crowds
ROUND three of the Warrnambool District Football Netball League was played over Saturday and Sunday of the Anzac Day weekend.

In the senior football, the closest match was the Timboon v Old Collegians match at the Timboon Recreation Reserve which saw the home team score a seven point win, 15.11.101 to 14.10.94.
Camperdown recruits Tarkyn Love and Bayley Thompson kicked six and five goals respectively for the Demons, with the pair named in the best alongside Jack Matthews and Archie Dalziel.
For Old Collegians, Jacob Hetherington kicked three goals with Harry White, Jacob Brooks and Samuel McKinnon the Warriors best.
At Noorat, Allansford scored a 68 point win over Kolora Noorat, 19.15.129 to 9.7.61.
Allansford full-forward Robbie Hare kicked five goals in the win to take his season tally to 21 from three games, with Aiden Gordon, Bradley Edge and Brett Hunger the Cats best.
Jack Lehmann led the goal kickers for the home team with four and was named in the Power’s best with Ted Kenna, Bradley Lucas and former coach Sam Uwland.
Dennington’s woes continued, suffering a 294 point loss, 46.28.304 to 1.4.10 against reigning premiers Nirranda at the Dennington Recreation Reserve.
For Nirranda, Jeremy Stacey bagged 14 goals and Isaac Stephens 11, that pair were also best for the Blues along with Dylan Lees and Danny Craven.
Tyler Anderton, Luke Driscoll and Louis Beaton were best for Dennington, with Anderton kicking the lone goal.
At Merrivale, Russells Creek scored a 19.8.122 to 9.9.63 win over the home team.
Best for Creek were Sam Alberts, Jailon Jenkins and Jyran Chatfield, with Sam Kelly kicking five goals with four each to Chatfield and Lochie Chadderton.
Ned Bolden, Wilson Lenehan and Ben Mulcahy were best for the Tigers, with Nathan Krepp kicking three goals.
At Walter Oval, the 2026 resurgence of South Rovers continued with the Lions scoring a 14.15.99 to 10.11.71 win over Panmure.
Jayden Watson kicked six goals for the Rovers, with Dylan McCutheon, Ben Oates and Liam Bishop best.
For Panmure, best players were Bradley Gedye, Tarj Anderson and Darcy Bourke, with Patrick Sinnott, Matthew Sinnott, Michael Boyd and Lachlan McLeod kicking two goals each.
In the A grade netball, Old Collegians had a 56-40 win over Timboon.
Danica Clough, playing against her old team for the first time, was best for the Warriors along with Kate Martin and Tamara Bull, with Maggie Kline shooting 25 goals and Chelsea Quinn 16.
Laura Rosolin scored 26 goals for the Demons and was named as best along with Brianna Gass and Ruby Jones.
Allansford scored a 33-27 win in their match against Kolora-Noorat.
Jessica Rohan, Lilly Sanderson and Bec Mitchell were best in the win, with Sanderson shooting 15 goals.
May Suhan, Ailish Glennen and Matilda Curran were best for the Power, with Tara Elliott shooting 12 goals.
Merrivale led throughout to defeat Russells Creek 50-42.
Georgia Martin, Cloe O’Flaherty and Chloe Lovell were best for the Tigers, with Lovell shooting 28 goals and Paiyton Noonan 20.
Molly Evans scored 26 goals and Ruby Evans 16 for the Creek, with that pair and Charlotte van der Starre best.
South Rovers had a 36-30 win over Panmure.
Best for Rovers were Georgia White, Molly Anderson and Chloe Manuell, with Grace Mugavin scoring 23 goals.
For the Bulldogs, best were Sophie Melican, Sienna Wickenton and Elizabeth Yeo, with Marley Talbot shooting 18 goals.
Dennington were forced to forfeit their A grade match against Nirranda.
This weekend’s round four fixtures in the Warrnambool District Football Netball League will see Old Collegians host South Rovers at Davidson Oval, Allansford playing Timboon at Allansford, Kolora Noorat and Nirranda are set to meet at the Noorat Recreation Reserve, Russells Creek will play Dennington at Mack Oval while Panmure will host Merrivale at Panmure.
