Apply now for funding
LOCAL festival and event organisers are encouraged to apply for Moyne Shire Council grants of up to $10,000.
Applications for the grants (part of the council’s Festival and Event Fund) opened last Monday, April 1.
Funding is available for eligible participants who can demonstrate either a significant social, cultural, economic or environmental contribution to the community.
Mayor Cr Ian Smith said he was looking forward to seeing applications from a range of festivals and events on this year’s social calendar.
“This funding will help us continue to support socially inclusive and culturally rich events that provide economic benefits and contribute to the growth of our region,” Cr Smith said.
“Festivals and events have a long-term flow-on effect beyond ticket sales. They increase visitation and support local businesses, which is why council is so pleased to support events across the region.”
The Port Fairy Marathon and Community Running Festival received funding under the grant scheme for its 2024 event.
Event coordinator Bree Ryan said council funding had paid for the big essential things for the event, such as traffic management, to ensure the event was able to run.
The Koroit Truck Show is another event that secured a grant from the Festival and Event fund.
Organising committee secretary Julie Houlihan said council funding enabled organisers to not just have the trucks on display but also provide a motorbike display for the children as well as a woodchop competition.
Grant applicants must contact council’s events team before applying on 1300 656 564 or to moyne@moyne.vic.gov.au to discuss how this funding opportunity could help support their event.

Applications for the Festival and Event Fund are open until May 6, 2024.
