Blues and Saints to contest Cup
BRAGGING rights will once again be on the line this Saturday when Warrnambool Football Netball Club takes on the Koroit Saints for the 2025 Cassign Cup.

The Cup, which originated in 2019 as a means of raising awareness and funds for Muscular Dystrophy, will be awarded to the club who takes out the most wins in all grades of football and netball this Saturday.
All players from both clubs will be encouraged to once again wear green laces to spread awareness of Muscular Dystrophy and to show their support of The Gillin Boys Foundation and its fight for a cure.
“This will no doubt once again be another great day of football and netball and we thank both clubs for their ongoing support of the Cassign Cup and our foundation,” Christopher Gillin said.
“Our foundation merchandise will be available for purchase at Reid Oval on game day and if anyone has some spare change there will be donation tins at the gate.
“The more funds we raise the quicker we find a cure.”
Since its inception six years ago, the cup has yet to be won by the Warrnambool club – with honours going to the Saints in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 204.
“The Cup wasn’t held in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID outbreak,” Christopher said.
“I’m sure Warrnambool will be keen to break the drought and take the overall win this weekend.
“We wanted everyone involved and that is why we made the winner the club that has the most wins (in both football and netball) on the day.”
