Blues remain in top five

DESPITE a 27-point loss to the fourth-placed Portland last weekend, Warrnambool remains in the top five of the Hampden League senior football competition.

With just four rounds remaining, the Blues are sitting fifth with eight wins to date, a game clear of nearest rivals South Warrnambool.

Ladder leaders North Warrnambool continue to dominate the season, remaining undefeated after a 36-point win over Cobden at Bushfield on Saturday.

Charlie McKinnon had a day out in front of goals for the home side, booting six majors for the day, while among the best for the Eagles were Xavier Harris, Jarryd Lewis, Charlie McKinnon, Tom Keast, Jackson Grundy and Angus Noske.

In other round 14 matches on Saturday, Terang Mortlake defeated the Roosters by just five points, Koroit defeated Camperdown by 11 in a low-scoring affair at Victoria Park, and Hamilton snuck home by a solitary point over Port Fairy.

The senior ladder sees Terang Mortlake sitting three games behind the Eagles with 11 wins and three losses, two games clear of the Koroit Saints in third, followed by Portland and Warrnambool rounding out the top five.

In the Open netball competition, South Warrnambool sit undefeated on top of the ladder, two games clear of Koroit, with Cobden in third, Port Fairy fourth and Warrnambool in fifth.

North Warrnambool currently sits a game out of the top five.

In Hampden league action this weekend, Cobden will host the Blues, Portland will be at home to Koroit, South Warrnambool will welcome Camperdown, Port Fairy will host the Eagles and Terang Mortlake will host Hamilton.
