Blues through to seventh grand final

NIRRANDA are through to a seventh consecutive Warrnambool and District senior football grand final after a strong 44-point win over Allansford in Saturday’s second semi-final.

After being a point down at quarter time, the Blues asserted their dominance to run out 13.10.88 to 6.8.44 winners at the Timboon Recreation Reserve.

Will Rowbottom, Dylan Parish and John Paulin were Nirranda’s best in the win, with Parish kicking five goals and Jeremy Stacey three.

For Allansford, Bradley Edge, Jonah Maher and Flynn Gleeson were best, with Gleeson kicking three goals and league leading goalkicker Robbie Hare two.

In the first semi-final at Dennington, Timboon’s run continued with a 16.11.107 to 14.7.91 win over Russells Creek, who bow out of the finals in straight sets.

Rhys Ziegelaar, Sam Thompson and Jack McGlade were best for the Demons in the win, with Bayley Thompson kicking five goals and Josh Worboys four.

Best for Russells Creek were Sam Kelly, Jailon Jenkins and Lochie Chadderton, with Jyran Chatfield kicking four goals.

This Saturday Allansford and Timboon will play for a grand final spot when they meet at the Davidson Oval in what will be Timboon’s first preliminary final since 2009.

Allansford is through to the reserves grand final after a 9.5.59 to 6.5.41 win over Russells Creek.

In the first semi-final, Nirranda had a 10.4.64 to 2.8.20 win over Old Collegians and will play Russells Creek in this Saturday’s preliminary final.

South Rovers had a massive 30.15.195 to 2.4.16 win over Allansford in the under 18.5 semi-final, with Russells Creek having an 8.6.54 to 6.9.45 win over Dennington in the first semi-final.

Allansford and Russells Creek will meet in the preliminary final, with the winner to meet South Rovers in the decider.

The under 16 football saw Allansford have a 5.6.36 to 2.5.17 win over Dennington in the second semi-final, while the first semi-final was close, Old Collegians defeating South Rovers 7.4.46 to 6.6.42.

Allansford is through to the grand final, with Dennington and Old Collegians set to meet in the preliminary final.

The under 13.5 second semi-final saw Dennington defeat Old Collegians 7.7.49 to 0.5.5.

In the first semi-final, South Rovers had a 3.6.24 to 2.5.17 win over Allansford.

This Saturday Old Collegians and South Rovers will play off for the right to play Dennington in the grand final.

Nirranda is also through to the A grade netball grand final after a 51-44 win over reigning premiers Merrivale.

Montana Wallace, Bella Wallace and Sophie Adams were the Blues best in the victory, with Steph Townsend putting through 38 goals.

For Merrivale, Georgia Martin, Paiyton Noonan and Layne Porter were best, Noonan shooting 35 goals.

Allansford advanced to the preliminary final with a 41-40 win over Old Collegians.

Bec Mitchell, Abby Sheehan and Lilly Sanderson were the Cats best, with Sanderson and Jess Rohan scoring 18 goals each.

For Old Collegians, Annabel Lucas, Chelsea Quinn and Tessa Evans were best, Quinn shooting 28 goals.

Merrivale and Allansford will play this week for the opportunity to line up against Nirranda in the grand final.

In A reserve, Merrivale had a 30-29 win over Allansford in the second semi-final, with the first semi-final going the way of Nirranda who had a 37-26 win over Russells Creek.

Merrivale is through to the decider, with Allansford set to meet Nirranda in this Saturday’s preliminary final.

In B grade, the second semi saw Merrivale defeat Allansford 33-30, with the first semi-final going the way of Nirranda who had a 43-24 win over South Rovers.

With Merrivale through to the grand final, Allansford and Nirranda will meet in this week’s preliminary final.

The 17 and under second semi-final saw a 36-35 win to Old Collegians over Allansford, with Russells Creek having a 25-17 win over Timboon.

Allansford and Russells Creek will play in the preliminary final, with Old Collegians through to the grand final.

Timboon is through to the grand final in the 15 and under competition after a 44-29 second semi-final win over Russells Creek, with Dennington scoring a 29-28 win over Allansford in the first semi-final.

Russells Creek will pay Dennington this week for the right to play Timboon in the grand final.

In the 13 and under second semi, Timboon scored a 29-22 win over Merrivale, with Dennington having a strong 43-16 win over Russells Creek in the first semi.

Merrivale and Dennington will play off in this week’s preliminary final, with Timboon already in the decider.

Timboon is also into the 11 and under grand final after a 22-10 win over Dennington in the second semi, with Merrivale registering a 12-11 win over Russells Creek in the first semi.

Dennington will play Merrivale in this week’s preliminary final, with the winner to meet Timboon in the grand final.
