Boost for clubs

SEVERAL football clubs across the district will share in more than $292,000 worth of new equipment and improvements thanks to grants announced this week.

AFL Western District, in conjunction with AFL Victoria, yesterday (Thursday) announced that 26 applications had been approved to assist important initiatives to help strengthen and grow community football in the region. 

South Rovers, Russells Creek and North Warrnambool football clubs will each receive $25,000 towards a football electronic scoreboard at each club. 

North Warrnambool was also allocated $1,307.90 towards Indigenous jumpers and netball bibs. 

 Merrivale Football Netball Club was allocated $20,000 for netting behind the football goals. 

Dennington Football Netball Club was successful in its application for $14,000 towards goal post netting while Old Collegians will receive $3,000 for Indigenous club jumpers and $1,500 for a laptop. 

Panmure Football Netball Club was allocated $2,050 for a defibrillator. 

The Koroit Football Netball Club will receive $2,500 towards electronic point of sale equipment.
