Ms Love is currently working as director of works and services with the Corangamite Shire but will start at Warrnambool in early February.

Community development is a large directorate which provides a diverse range of services and includes kindergartens, childcare, sport, recreation, home support, community planning and culture.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Brooke to the team,” Warrnambool council’s chief executive officer Andrew Mason said.

“She has an impressive resume that includes a connection to Warrnambool as the inaugural manager of Aquazone in 2002.

“Brooke has a strong record of delivering projects and is adept at working with communities and large teams.”

Over the past 18 years at Corangamite Shire, Ms Love has been involved in managing capital works projects, council facilities and recreation and community programs.

Ms Love said she was excited to be joining Warrnambool City Council.

“Returning to Warrnambool feels like closing the loop in a way,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the community development team and working collaboratively to deliver the actions in the Council Plan.

“I’m also keen to meet and work with councillors and the leadership team.

“We have some major strategic projects under consideration including future options for Aquazone, the work at Brierly Reserve and improving kindergarten and childcare facilities.

“And there are the early years and aged care reforms too which I know the team is working through with staff, clients and the community.

“It’s a really exciting time and the focus will be on making sure our services meet the needs of our growing population and their expectations.”

Mr Mason acknowledged the council staff who have acted in the director role while the search was under way for a new director.
