Cats hold top spot

ALLANSFORD and Russells Creek both remain unbeaten after five rounds of the Warrnambool and District senior football competition.

At the Mack Oval, Russells Creek scored a thumping 116-point win over Panmure, 26.15.171 to 8.7.55.

Sam Kelly, Jyran Chatfield and Dylan Shircore were best for the Kangaroos in the win, with Kelly bagging nine goals, Lochie Chadderton seven and Chatfield four.

Best for Panmure were Tarj Anderson, Tyler Humphrey and Patrick Mahony, with Patrick Sinnott and Lachlan Mcleod kicking two goals each.

The closest game of the day was at the Timboon Recreation Reserve, where reigning premiers Nirranda scored a nine-point win over the home team, 12.5.77 to 9.14.68.

Simpson recruit Nick Harding had his best game in Blues colours to date, kicking six goals and being named in the best along with Cody Wagstaff and Dylan Parish.

Ben Newey, Jack McGlade and Lyndon Alsop were best for Timboon, with Bayley Thompson kicking three goals.

At the Walter Oval, Allansford scored a 31-point win over South Rovers, 14.14.98 to 10.7.67.

Robbie Hare kicked six goals and Rani Jamieson four for Allansford, with Aiden Gordon, Jonah Maher and Brett Hunger best.

Standouts for South Rovers were Sandon Williams, Sam Wilde and Jaxen Dalton, with Jayden Watson kicking five goals and Jack Creece three.

Dennington was forced to forfeit its senior match against Kolora-Noorat, with Merrivale and Old Collegians having played their round five match back on Good Friday.

Russells Creek and Panmure had the closest A grade netball game of the week, with Creek scoring a 41-36 win.

Alice Cann, Ruby Evans and Reese McIntyre were best for the Kangaroos, with Molly Evans shooting 23 goals.

Best for Panmure were Lori Irving, Chloe McKenzie and Marley Talbot, with Talbot shooting 22 goals.

Nirranda registered a 15-goal win over Timboon, 46-31.

Thalia Coates, Maddie Craven and Hayley Pouw were best for the Blues, with Sophie Adams and Charlotte Howell scoring 16 goals each.

Best for the Demons were Bethany Hallyburton, Laura Rosolin and Tash Hallyburton, with Rosolin scoring 20 goals.

Allansford scored a 51-29 win over South Rovers.

Best for Allansford were Emma Stacey, Jessica Rohan and Abbey Day, with Day shooting 32 goals and Lilly Sanderson 16.

Grace Mugavin scored 14 goals for South Rovers, with Georgia White, Ashlee Pavletich and Meg McCutcheon best.

Kolora-Noorat goal shooter Tara Elliott had a huge day, scoring 86 goals in the Power’s thumping 116-7 win over Dennington.

Coach Lillie Bourke put through 30 goals, with Hannah O’Connor, Molly Bourke and Ailish Glennen the Power’s best.

Phoebe Stuart, Charlotte Dumesny and Sophie Jellie were Dennington’s best in the loss.

This week’s round of WDFNL matches sees Nirranda play South Rovers at Nirranda, Dennington host Timboon at Dennington, Kolora-Noorat meets Russells Creek at Noorat, Allansford play Merrivale at Allansford with Old Collegians playing Panmure at Davidson Oval.
