Close at the top

AFTER 12 rounds of senior football competition in the Warrnambool and District League, Allansford and Russells Creek sit on top of the ladder with nine wins each.

Allansford spearhead Robbie Hare is well in front in the league’s goal kicking with 60, Russells Creek’s Sam Kelly is second with 38 while Old Collegians’ Jake Dowell is third with 31.

Reigning premier Nirranda currently sits third on the ladder on seven wins, with Timboon fourth on six wins.

Merrivale and South Rovers are competing for fifth spot, both on five wins, with Old Collegians a further two wins behind.

Kolora-Noorat and Panmure both sit on two wins each.

Nirranda currently sits on top of the A grade netball ladder with 11 wins and one loss.

Merrivale and Old Collegians are just behind on 10 wins each, Allansford sit on eight wins with Kolora-Noorat and Russells Creek battling for fifth spot on six wins each.

South Rovers currently sits a further two wins behind, with Panmure on three wins, Timboon on two and Dennington yet to open their account.

Merrivale’s Chloe Lovell leads the goal shooters with 353, Maggie Kline from Old Collegians has 336 with Kolora-Noorat recruit Tara Elliott on 321.

The WDFNL resumes this weekend with South Rovers and Old Collegians to meet at Walter Oval, Timboon will host Allansford, Nirranda will take on Kolora Noorat at Nirranda, Merrivale will host Panmure while Russells Creek have the bye in the senior football and will play Dennington in the A grade netball.
