MOYNE Shire’s Work and Play program is helping seasonal workers turn a summer job into the summer of their lives, with local employment opportunities and subsidised accommodation opening the door to life in one of Victoria’s most spectacular regions.
If you’re dreaming of a summer by the coast, keen to earn money, meet new people and discover somewhere new - Moyne Shire is the place.
With seasonal jobs available through local businesses and support to help make accommodation more affordable, the Work and Play program is inviting travellers, working holiday makers and adventure-seekers to make Moyne their home for the summer.
From the beach vibes of Port Fairy to the wide-open landscapes and close-knit community of the surrounding shire, there’s so much to discover when the working day is done.
Moyne Shire Council mayor Cr Jordan Lockett expressed his enthusiasm for the program, saying finding work while travelling can be exciting.
“Finding somewhere affordable to live while doing it can be another story,” Cr Lockett said.
“We want to welcome new people to the region to experience our way of life and see what Moyne is all about. That’s where Work and Play can help.”
Delivered through a partnership between Moyne Shire Council and Commerce Moyne, the program connects seasonal workers with local employers and helps participating businesses access subsidised accommodation for eligible summer staff.
The program is particularly focused on hospitality and tourism businesses preparing for the busy summer visitor season.
Opportunities can include seasonal roles in hospitality and tourism, with connections to local employers helping workers find their feet and become part of the community.
“Whether you’re up for a morning surf, pottering around some of our cozy towns or spending a lazy weekend along the coast, Moyne offers the chance to combine earning an income with experiencing regional Victoria at its best.
“And there’s something really special about becoming part of a small community, even if it’s just for a season.”
