Community awards now open

NOMINATIONS for the annual Moyne Community Awards are now open.

The awards aim to recognise the people and events that make our community great places to live, with nominations being sought for Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Mayor Cr Karen Foster encouraged community members to head to council’s website and lodge their nominations before October 16.

“We all know someone within the community who goes above and beyond to make the community a better place – often they work quietly behind the scenes making sure events, services, community programs and clubs run smoothly,” Cr Foster said.

“Without them the community would be a much poorer place, so this is your chance to nominate so they can receive the recognition they deserve.”

Cr Foster believes Moyne is also home to a huge range of events which add to the vibrancy and sense of community, so council also wants to celebrate an event that has brought the community together in celebration or to raise awareness of important issues.

The awards will be presented on January 26, 2024, with details of the location to be announced shortly.

Nominations will close on Monday October 16, and can be made by visiting council’s website at or in person at council’s customer service centres in Port Fairy or Mortlake.
