Council believes this calendar strengthens its commitment to inclusion, community wellbeing, cultural engagement and civic participation across the shire.

The endorsed calendar provides a clear and transparent framework for the corporate events and significant days council will deliver, support or recognise throughout the year.

This is aimed at helping the community better understand how council marks important social, cultural and civic occasions.

Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the endorsement highlights the value of events and recognised days in bringing communities together.

“These events and recognised days celebrate the diversity in our community, acknowledge important moments and issues, and help build pride and connection across Moyne,” Cr Lockett said.

“Endorsing this calendar also ensures council can plan and deliver these activities in a consistent, transparent and well-resourced way.”

Council corporate events are delivered by council or in partnership with community groups and include citizenship ceremonies, seniors’ festival, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services.

It also includes International Women’s Day, Harmony Day, National Reconciliation Week and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

These days reflect council priorities and areas of focus and may be acknowledged through activities such as media promotion, flag displays or building lighting.

These include NAIDOC Week, National Sorry Day, Wear It Purple Day, World Mental Health Day, World Refugee Day and Pride Month.
