Council invests in business facades
TEN Port Fairy businesses were among 15 across Moyne Shire to be allocated funding through the council’s 2026-27 Business Façade Improvement Program.

The 15 local businesses and property owners will receive funding to help bring fresh life to shopfronts and commercial buildings across the shire.
The program provides matched funding to support upgrades such as painting, signage, restoration works and other improvements that enhance the appearance of business premises and main streets.
Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the program was a practical way for council to support local businesses while improving the look and feel of communities across Moyne.
“Our town centres are often the first thing people see when they visit a community, and attractive, well-presented businesses help create a lasting impression,” Cr Lockett said.
“This program helps business and property owners invest in their buildings, while also contributing to more vibrant and welcoming town centres for our residents and visitors.”

Council received 28 applications this year, with businesses seeking more than $86,000 in funding from a pool of $40,000.
Cr Lockett said the strong response highlighted the pride local businesses have in their communities.
“It’s encouraging to see so many business owners willing to invest in their properties and in the future of their towns,” he said.
“These projects might involve a fresh coat of paint, improved signage or restoring the character of an older building, but collectively they make a real difference to the presentation and appeal of our main streets.
“The program also helps stimulate local economic activity by encouraging additional private investment and creating more attractive places for people to shop, work and visit.”
Funding has been allocated to 15 projects across the shire, with priority given to eligible applicants who had not previously received support through the program.
Cr Lockett said council remained committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen local businesses and contribute to thriving communities.
“Strong local businesses are at the heart of vibrant communities, and this program is one way council can help support that success,” he said.
