Warrnambool District Country Music Group members Hayley White, Joe Musico and Robyn Gleeson (president) are looking forward to this weekend’s ‘spectacular.’

Members of the Warrnambool District Country Music Group have been working hard behind the scenes to bring together a quality line-up of musicians for this year’s ‘Country Music Spectacular.’

“This will be our third annual spectacular and no doubt it will be just as big and just as wonderful as past years,” music group president Robyn Gleeson said.

“All money raised from ticket sales this year will go towards the cost of beach wheelchairs, which will benefit many people in our community along with visitors to town.

“Over the last 25 years or so our group has raised in excess of $50,000 for various charities and we’re very proud of that.”

This weekend’s Country Music Spectacular, which will run from 11am-5pm at the St Pius Hall on Sunday, will feature resident band The Wranglers.

Also on the program are renowned artists Cameron Mason, Lance Birrell, Christine Clifford, Matt Manning and Brendan Scott.

“We have a fantastic line-up of performers who will no doubt have the audience singing and dancing along,” Robyn said.

Dance enthusiasts will have the chance to warm up their shoes before the extravaganza, with a special ‘Dance Night’ organised for tomorrow night (Saturday, October 18).

Also to be held at the St Pius Hall on Morris Road, the evening of dancing will kick off at 7.30pm and run through until 11pm.

For a small admission fee, tea and coffee will be provided and participants are encouraged to take along drinks and nibbles.

The Warrnambool District Country Music Group, which proudly boasts in excess of 170 members, holds regular country music afternoons in Warrnambool.

“On the third Sunday of each month we have concerts at the City Memorial Bowls Club from 1pm-5pm.

“We can get up to about 150 people at these concerts; many of them enjoy lunch at City Memorial first before moving into the room for a wonderful social afternoon of country music – everyone is welcome.”
