Eagles and City Netball finalists in state awards
WARRNAMBOOL City Netball Association, and the NetSetGo program at North Warrnambool Football Netball Club, have both been nominated as finalists in the 2025 Netball Victoria Community Awards.
Each year the Netball Victoria Community Awards shine a light on the individuals in the netball community who go above and beyond to support the game.
From courtside champions to behind the scenes heroes, this year’s finalists reflect the heart and soul of netball in Victoria.
Their dedication, energy and love for the game inspire those around them and help drive a thriving community of more than 117,000 members across the state.
North Warrnambool Eagles Football Netball Club was listed as one of three finalists in the ‘Woolworths NetSetGo Centre of the Year’ category.
Warrnambool City Netball was named a finalist in the ‘Inclusive Netball Community of the Year’ category.
City Netball administrator Marg Morgan said she was absolutely thrilled when she learnt of the nomination earlier this week.
“I scanned through my emails and found one from Netball Victoria which said not only had our association been nominated but we were a finalist in our category,” Marg said.
“I was blown away to think someone in the community felt us worthy of such an award.
“We have a wonderful netball community, not only for our mainstream teams but also for our All Abilities players who are just amazing.
“Our All Abilities team, the Stingers, just go from strength to strength. We’re all about being inclusive and netball at all levels provides platforms for that inclusion which is wonderful.”
The Stingers train regularly at the Warrnambool stadium from March through to November and compete at various tournaments and levels.
“This year we went to the association championships and finished second overall; we’ve also won and been placed in the top three for the past four or five years at the state titles which is incredible.”
The Stingers will compete in this weekend’s Special Olympics Victoria State Games at Selkirk Stadium in Ballarat.
The event will bring together hundreds of athletes, coaches, supporters and families, promoting inclusion and sportsmanship among individuals with intellectual disabilities.
* The winners of all categories will be revealed at the Netball Victoria Awards on Sunday, October 19.
