Eagles continue to soar

WITH just six rounds remaining of the Hampden League home and away season, North Warrnambool remains the team to beat.

The Eagles currently sit unbeaten on top of the ladder after 12 rounds, with the Terang Mortlake Bloods their closest rivals three games behind.

Koroit, Portland and Warrnambool currently round out the top five, with the Blues sitting two games clear of the sixth-placed South Warrnambool.

Last weekend’s round saw the ladder leaders celebrate a percentage boosting win over Camperdown, 16.10.106 to 5.6.36 at Bushfield.

Joseph Higgins and Matthew Wines each kicked three majors for the Eagles, while Charlie Jellie and Luke Wines chipped in two apiece.

Among the best players were Jackson Grundy, Angus Noske, Bailey Jenkinson, Liam Anders, Matthew Wines and Tom Keast.

Other round 12 winners were Terang Mortlake over Cobden, Warrnambool over Koroit, Port Fairy defeated the Roosters and Portland snuck home by a goal over Hamilton.

Round 13 tomorrow (Saturday) will see Koroit take on the Roosters at Victoria Park, Cobden will host Hamilton, Portland will take on North Warrnambool, the Blues will travel to Camperdown and Port Fairy and the Bloods will meet at Gardens Oval.
