Family-friendly show in Port Fairy
WITH everything from giant bubbles and circus activities through to an animal petting zoo, vintage display and delicious Devonshire teas, this year’s Port Fairy Show looks set to be another great family day out.
To be held on Saturday, November 7, this year’s show looks set to have something for everyone, and committee members are working hard to keep the show affordable for all.
“We have early bird prices currently available, which includes admission for a family of two adults and three children (under the age of 16) for just $20; these will be $25 on show day,” committee president Eveline Jackway said.
“And our ride wristbands for kids are always very popular; for just $25 children up to the age of 12 can enjoy rides all day long with face painting and some fun with virtual reality glasses which is great value.”
The Port Fairy Show is renowned for offering a variety of entertainment, food, free activities, music, competitions and displays and this year’s event will be no different.
The main arena will again feature a quality show jumping competition, with competitors across a range of classes and ages, while the nearby pavilions will host the traditional art, photography, cooking, horticultural and needlework competitions.
“We’re excited to have a harvest simulator here this year which will be exciting for people to have a go at,” Eveline said.
“A wood carver will also be in action throughout the day along with sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep dogs and some talented wool spinners.”

Visitors certainly won’t go hungry, with the Port Fairy Scouts manning a barbecue, the Lions Club selling traditional Christmas cakes, morning and afternoon tea in the pavilion, as well as some classic show favourites.
“We always try to encourage our community groups to get involved with the show in some form or another,” Eveline said.
“Members of the men’s shed will have a display, along with the local SES, CFA and surf club. It truly is a country show for country folk.”
Gates will open at 9am for general admission and the show will close at 4pm.
