Finals approach for Rangers
LAST weekend saw just the one game played for the Warrnambool Rangers – the senior men’s FV Southwest Cup.
Rangers Blue defeated Rangers Teal 4-1.
Warrnambool Rangers will now look to the semi-finals which will be played this Sunday, August 30, before the finals the following week, Sunday, September 6.
The senior women have no games until the grand final.
Results from the final round (round 14) played on Sunday, August 16 were as follows:
In the men’s competition, Rangers Blue defeated Wolves 2-1 – with best on ground going to Matt Rosario, Connor Bellman and Nathan Frank.
Rangers Teal defeated Port Fairy 4-1.
Bailey Greene was named best on for his brilliant work out wide, his work rate and for being a “jack of all trades.”
In the under 17s, the Rangers celebrated a 16-nil win over Grampians.
Riley Dumesny was named player of the match while Michael Hall and Declan Membery each scored a hattrick and Logan Whyte slotted home four goals.
Under 14 Blue defeated Wolves Black 2-nil, with player of the match going to Louie Welsh. This win saw the team finish as league champions.
Under 14 Teal had a big 9-nil win over the Grampians, with Jack Freeman and Theo Smith named players of the match.
Goal keeper Hugh Faris kept a clean sheet while Declan Membery scored an incredible six goals.
Under 13 Blue lost to Colac 3-6, with player of the match honours going to Evie Drew, while under 13 Teal had a bye.
In the under 12s, Blue faced Wolves Black and won 2-nil. Player of the match was Hadley Boyle.
Under 12 Teal defeated Grampians 6-nil, with Nethun Samarakoon named player of the match
Under 10 Teal had a bye while under 10 Blue faced Hamilton.
Player of the match was Oscar Lawlor.
The under 8s (which is a non-scoring competition) saw the Rangers enjoy a game against Port Fairy. Player of the match was Freddie Clarke.
