Foreshore promenade gets ready for summer
WORK has started this week to rebuild sections of the Foreshore Promenade, with segments of the path between the surf club and Granny’s Grave to be replaced ahead of the busy summer period.
Works will take place on weekdays, weather permitting, with detours in place while construction is under way.
The promenade will fully reopen each weekend and work is expected to be complete by the end of November.
Warrnambool mayor Cr Ben Blain said the works would help keep one of the city’s most popular paths in good condition.
“The foreshore promenade gets a huge amount of use, particularly as the weather warms up, so this is a good opportunity to renew some of the sections that are showing their age before the peak summer season,” he said.
“While works are under way, we will have detours in place so you can continue through past the works, but just be mindful that some detours will have sections of soft sand.
“And we’re working with the contractor to stage the works to allow for the path to fully re-open each weekend.”
The new sections of path may have a slightly different appearance to the existing pavement.
While there may be some variation in colour and finish, the new sections will provide the same level of durability, performance and longevity, while utilising a more sustainable construction method.
Anyone using the promenade during the works period is asked to follow all signage.
