Former Tech students reminisce

THERE was plenty of laughter and reminiscing about “the good old days” when former students and friends of Warrnambool Tech held their annual reunion last weekend.

The ‘get together,’ held at Macey’s in Warrnambool on Sunday, saw a large crowd of almost 60 people enjoy lunch and an afternoon of shared stories and reflection.

For organiser Ken McKenzie, who once played football for the Tech school, the day was all about friendship and the chance to catch up with old mates.

“We regularly hold get togethers of former Warrnambool Tech School players (footballers) from around 1962 but sadly we’ve lost a few over the years,” Ken said.

“It was so nice to see everyone back smiling and having a good time. Some people hadn’t seen each other for about 60 years so there was plenty to talk about.

“It certainly became a long afternoon but it was one we will long remember.

“We even had one person travel from Geelong and another from Wangaratta just for the event which was pretty special – and a man who turns 90 in a couple of weeks had never been to one of these get togethers before so it was lovely to see him there too.”
