Give walking netball a try

HAVE you ever wanted to get back on the netball court (or try for the first time) but felt unable to keep up?

Walking netball could be just the perfect fit.

The Warrnambool netball stadium is offering anyone interested in trying this sport the opportunity to take to the courts during two ‘come and try walking netball’ sessions during the school holidays.

The sessions will be open to both females and males from the age of 15 and will run from 6pm on Tuesday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 7.

It is hoped a competition can be created in the near future (night to be confirmed).

Walking netball is a modified version of the traditional game that is fully inclusive, allowing anyone to participate regardless of their age, fitness level, ability or previous netball experience.

As the name implies, walking netball is a slower version of the game, performed at a walking pace.

Walking netball has a strong emphasis on getting people to participate in an enjoyable, safe environment rather than focusing on the competitive aspect.

Netball Victoria has also made it easy for walking netball players to participate, with a $21 cost-effective membership for the year.

For further information on the upcoming ‘come and try’ sessions phone Marg Morgan at Warrnambool City Netball on 5562 4868.
