Golfers busy on the greens

EAST Framlingham Golf Club has announced its 2024-25 twilight series winners.

Riley Scanlon finished on 33 to win the men’s scratch while Tom Wright with 40-15-25 has taken the men’s handicap.

The men’s non handicap (scratch) went to Harry Ponting on 39 while the non-handicap was won by Mick Rudezky 47-13.5-33.5.

Julie Mahoney won the ladies scratch on 42 while Annie Carroll 49-17.5-31.5 won ladies handicap.

In the junior competition, Leo Beasley won the junior under 16s scratch on 40 and Hugh Kenna took out the under 16s handicap with 45-14.5-30.5.

Many thanks to all players who participated in the twilight competition and to the event and raffle sponsors for their ongoing support.

The competition will resume in October.

Results from last Wednesday, April 2:

Men’s scratch Eli McLeod 37, men’s handicap Henry Waugh 44-13-31, men’s non-handicap scratch Sam Stacey 37 and non-handicap Tom Mahony 48-13.5-34.5.

In the ladies’ competitions, Thelma Inverarity won scratch on 48 and Annie Carrooll took out the handicap with 49-17.5-31.5.

The men’s longest drive went to Ned Roberts while in the junior under 16s scratch Jon Kelly 63 and Reily Kelly 63 were victorious.

Nearest the pins: 2nd Sam Stacey, 3rd Shaun Giblin, 4th Will Kenna, 5th Matt Jewell, 6th Henry Waugh, 7th Rob Field, 8th Darren Hansford, 9th Shaun Giblin.

Ray Eccles won the raffle and 52 players enjoyed the day.

Last Saturday saw players contest the stroke (monthly medal).

A grade was won by Peter Harlock on 85-18-67, with John Eccles runner-up on 89-17-72.

They were followed by Anthony Kenna 77-4-73, Matt Smith 87-15-75 and Gerard Eccles 79-4-75.

The winner of B grade was Josh McDonald 97-32-67, with Kevin Bourke in second place on 89-21-68.

They were followed by Neil McDonald 95-27-68, Tony Grundy 94-24-70 and Justin Fedley 92-20-72.

The social winner was Gerard Eccles.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Bruce Knee, 6th Craig Lee, 7th Peter Harlock and 9th Tony Kenna.

Next week will be stableford.
