Grand final showdown this weekend
ALLANSFORD is set to meet Nirranda in this weekend’s grand final after scoring a 26 point win over Timboon in Saturday’s Warrnambool and District senior football preliminary final.
Timboon led throughout the first half before the Cats kicked nine goals to four in the second half to run out 15.10.100 to 11.8.74 winners at Davidson Oval.
Jordan Eldridge, Bradley Bull and Jarvis Bermingham were Allansford’s best in the win, with Louis Herbert and Robbie Hare kicking three goals each.
Ben Newey, Finn Castledine and Sam Newey were best for Timboon, with Bayley Thompson kicking three goals.
A tight reserves preliminary final saw Nirranda have a 4.5.29 to 4.3.27 win over Russells Creek.
Benjamin Hadden, Jake Hards and Jason Lee were best for the Blues, with Marcus Askew, Brayden Elford and Alix Lane best for Russells Creek.
As in the seniors, Nirranda will play Allansford in the grand final.
Russells Creek was too strong for Allansford in the under 18.5 football, recording a 10.11.71 to 0.1.1 win.
Best for Russells Creek were Max Carter, Gilbert Harrison and Kobi Chatfield, with Xavier Chatfield and Aristeidis Raptis kicking two goals each.
For Allansford, Sam White, Thomas Creed and Jaylen Robson were best.
Russells Creek will now play South Rovers in the decider.
In the under 16s, Dennington had a 5.2.32 to 2.5.17 win over Old Collegians.
Jacob Hose, Fletcher Gillmartin and Jack Weathers were best for the Dogs, with Luke Roney kicking two goals.
For Old Collegians, Zeke Williams, Archie McGovern and Dylan Verspay were best.
Dennington will play Allansford in this Saturday’s under 16 grand final.
The under 13.5 preliminary final saw Old Collegians defeat South Rovers.
Best for Old Collegians were Joel King, Jack Cushen and Darcy O’Shannassy, while for South Rovers Hugh Walther, Mitchell Synott and Ryder Lynch were best.
Old Collegians will now meet Dennington in this week’s under 13 grand final.
The A grade netball preliminary final saw Merrivale have a 37-31 win over Allansford.
Georgia Martin, Tahni Porter and Mia Mills were best for the Tigers in the win, with Paiyton Noonan shooting 33 goals.
Jessica Rohan shot 25 goals and was best for Allansford alongside Abby Sheehan and Lisa Pender.
Merrivale will now meet Nirranda in Saturday’s grand final.
In A reserve, Allansford had a 30-20 win over Nirranda.
Best for the Cats were Maddison Drake, Sally Bond and Caitlin Boyce, with Courtney Bellman shooting 14 goals and Drake 13.
For Nirranda, Victoria Rea, Kaitlin Willsher and Rebecca Young were best; Young shooting 11 goals.
Allansford will play Merrivale this Saturday for the A reserve premiership.
The B grade preliminary final saw Allansford record a 29-25 win over Nirranda.
Jordan Arms, Claire Sparrow and Rachael Windridge were best for Allansford, with Windridge shooting 18 goals.
For Nirranda, Milly Wiggins, Brooke Haberfield and Paige Haberfield were best, with Madison Parsons shooting 21 goals.
Allansford will play Merrivale in this week’s B grade decider.
Allansford also got the win in the 17 and under netball, defeating Russells Creek 26-20.
Ava Cook, Eliza Byron and Sienna Byron were best for the Cats, with Ellie Christoforou scoring 11 goals and Olivia Anderson 10.
Best for Russells Creek were Milla Cann, Reese McIntyre and Fleur Mahoney.
Old Collegians and Allansford will meet in this week’s 17 and under grand final.
The 15 and under netball saw Russells Creek defeat Dennington 39-22.
Alicia Martin, Stella Giblett and Emily Hancock were best for Russells Creek, with Ella Henriksen shooting 36 goals.
For Dennington, Lily Hose, Maya Anderton and Shayla Chatfield were best with Anderton shooting 11 goals and Hose 10.
Russells Creek now go on to play the undefeated Timboon in the grand final.
Merrivale had a 27-8 win over Dennington in the 13 and under preliminary final and will now play Timboon in the grand final.
Dennington was too strong for Merrivale in the 11 and under game, winning 21-2.
Maisy Murphy, Isabelle Crothers and Nala Faulkner were best for Dennington, with Faulkner shooting 15 goals.
Addison Dowling, April Kelly and Sylvie McKenzie were Merrivale’s best in the loss.
Timboon and Dennington will now meet in Saturday’s grand final.
