Grand finals await female footballers
THE Western Victoria Female Football League will host its grand final matches this weekend.
All action will take place at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval from just after 10am tomorrow (Saturday).
Koroit and the Hamilton Kangaroos will contest the under 15 grand final from 10.15am, followed by the under 18 final between Koroit and South Warrnambool at 12.05pm.
Hamilton and South Warrnambool will contest the senior women’s football premiership from 2.10pm.
Gates will open from 9am and full canteen facilities (and a coffee van) will run throughout the day.
Admission is just $10 per adults, $8 concession (pensioners/full-time students) with those aged 16 years and under free.
Last Sunday’s preliminary finals were all played at Koroit’s Victoria Park.
In the senior women’s game, Hamilton, coming from fourth place after the home and away season, advanced through to the grand final with a 3.7.25 to 3.2.20 win over Tyrendarra.
Best for Hamilton in the win were Kirby Vise, Cleo De Jong and Hinemoa Biddle-Maitland, with Vise kicking two goals and Ella Boston one.
For Tyrendarra, who crashed out in straight sets after finishing the home and away season in second, Sarah Wall, Chelsea Fowler and Biankah Paije Rose-Maher were best, with Kelsey England kicking two goals and Caitlin Storrie one.
The under 18 game saw South Warrnambool have a narrow 2.3.15 to 2.2.14 win over Cavendish.
Molly McNeil, Lila Evans and Arlie Kelson were best for South Warrnambool in the win, with Ruby Jones and Sarah-Tilly Muskee kicking goal each.
For Cavendish, Marli Blohm, Leayla Pohl and Layla Slater were best, with Slater kicking both goals.
In the under 15 girls preliminary final, Hamilton scored a 1.2.8 to 0.4.4 win over Portland.
Taya Sherlock, Tatum Bell and Mikela Pohl were best for Hamilton, with Sherlock kicking the only goal of the match.
For Portland, Dayna Beyer, Arlee Wilson and Ava Jacobson were best.
This Sunday’s grand finals at the Reid Oval see South Warrnambool play Hamilton in the senior women, Koroit playing South Warrnambool in the under 18 women, with Koroit playing Hamilton in the under 15 girls.
