Grass off limits to free campers
THE grassed area in Panmure’s free camping site will be a ‘no go zone’ until October 1 this year.
The grassed areas in Panmure, previously used for free camping, are currently closed.
Following consultation with the Panmure Action Group, council erected signage advising the grassed areas were closed to campers from May 1 to October 1 each year.
However, despite the signage campers have continued to park on the grass.
As a result of damp ground conditions in recent weeks, there has been increased turf damage on those sites.
Bollards and locked chains have recently been installed to prevent further camping in those areas.
Council hopes to re-open the grassed areas from the start of October, pending weather conditions.
