Green light for safety campaign
THE inaugural ALERT Warrnambool program has been hailed a huge success, with attendance numbers exceeding all expectations.

The brainchild of Jo and Greg Moon, last week’s driver safety and awareness campaign was the culmination of months of planning.
“It was our aim to bring a safe driver/safe car awareness program to south west road users and I believe we achieved that,” Jo said.
“We’re now hoping this will have a positive flow-on effect and will help reduce the road toll and traffic accidents in our region.”
The Moon’s said they were overwhelmed by the community response to the ALERT even programming.
“It was absolutely phenomenal,” they said.
“Attendance numbers exceeded our expectations at every session and workshop.
“And the response from every single one of our defensive driver training participants was that they gained so much more from the day than what they expected.”
Participants said the skills they learnt through the program will see them change small things about their driving techniques and habits – which will, in turn, have a massive difference in the way they use the road.
“We have met so many amazing people who are as passionate as we are about raising awareness and increasing positive conversations around all things car, driver and road user awareness,” Greg said.
“We want to extend a massive thanks to all our sponsors, supporters and volunteers – ALERT Warrnambool wouldn’t have been the success it was without the engagement and involvement of each of those businesses, community foundations and individuals.”
The Moon’s this week confirmed that ALERT Warrnambool was here to stay and would be an annual event on the local calendar for years to come.
“We will grow and evolve with the community’s needs and look forward to not only being an annual in-person event, but also an ongoing presence and platform to educate and promote safer driver, car and road user awareness in the south west region.’
