Join us at Flagstaff

HAVE you ever wanted to be part of one of Warrnambool’s most loved attractions, meet new people, learn new skills, and help bring local history to life?

Flagstaff Hill has sent out a call this week for more volunteers, particularly young people keen to join the fun on weekends and during school holidays. Tanesha Smart, Immy Edwards, Liam Bell and Andie Ivermee (pictured) say volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to your local community and they encourage others to join them.

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is excited to be part of this weekend’s South West Volunteer Expo.

To be held tomorrow, Saturday May 23 from 10am to 2pm at the Emmanuel Centre on Botanic Road, the expo invites community members of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels to discover the many rewarding ways they can get involved.

While this year’s expo places a special focus on youth in volunteering, Flagstaff Hill is proudly seeking volunteers from right across the community; from students and young people looking to build confidence and experience, through to parents, working professionals and retirees.

Visitors to the Flagstaff Hill display will have the chance to meet volunteers of all ages, including younger volunteers dressed in authentic period costume, showcasing how volunteering creates connections across generations.

At Flagstaff Hill, there are countless ways to get involved.

Volunteers may choose to be based in one of the historic buildings such as the print shop, bank, blacksmith, school, fire station, dressmaker, doctor’s house, lighthouse or lolly shop.

Or you may prefer to assist with guided tours and events, help in the gardens, or roam the village in period costume interacting with visitors and bringing history to life.

Flagstaff Hill is ideally seeking volunteers who can contribute a few hours each week, with flexible opportunities available across weekdays, weekends, school holidays, and special events.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new people, build confidence, learn new skills, share your interests, and become part of a passionate and welcoming community.

Visit the Flagstaff Hill team at the South West Volunteer Expo on Saturday and discover how you can play a part in activating one of Warrnambool’s most treasured attractions.

Registration details, expressions of interest and further information will be available at the Flagstaff Hill stand throughout the day.
