The cadets celebrated their final parade and award ceremony in Warrnambool late last week.

Leilah was presented with the Warrnambool RSL Sub Branch PJ McGinness Memorial Award by the RSL’s Richard Ridgwell and Corporal David McGinness.

Cadet Corporal Pretlove has consistently represented the squadron with pride and diligence, quietly working behind the scenes, yet always appearing at the right moment to assist anyone – from the newest recruit to her fellow NCOs and support staff.

She is a clear example of what ‘Most Outstanding Cadet’ truly means.

Her strong attendance, professional presentation, active participation in activities, recruit experience weekends and four-wing events reflect her exceptional commitment.

This year she has also assumed management of the squadron canteen, taking responsibility for rosters, stock control, and the smooth weekly operation of the canteen.

She has embraced several extracurricular weekend activities, using every opportunity to develop new skills and gain valuable experience.

Leilah also represented the squadron at all three major ceremonial events including ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans’ Day and Remembrance Day.

Staff at 413 Squadron believe she has “much to offer the community, both now and into the future.”

Among other awards presented last week were:

Executive Instructors Award (drill dress and bearing) – Leading Cadet Cooper Davies.

NCO in Charge of 2024 Drill Team – Cadet Sergeant Orlando Lane.

8/7 Battalion 2RVR Markmanship Award – Leading Cadet Hamish Allsop.

Naval Association Mateship Award – Cadet Corporal Kye Hooper.

Warrnambool Vietnam Veterans Award – Cadet Corporal Luca Barclay.

Warrnambool Aero Club Award – Leading Cadet Aurora Pratt.
