Marathon line honours for Edwards and Howard

REECE Edwards and Eliza Howard have taken line honours in this year’s Port Fairy Marathon.

The third annual marathon and community running festival once again drew large crowds to the seaside town, with 1919 registered participants across the five events.

Edwards was the first male home in the marathon, clocking a time of 2:22.21, followed by Jason Daye in 2:28.44 and Nick Tavendale third in 2:46.47.

In the women’s event, Eliza Howard crossed the line first in a time of 2:49.25 followed by Kirstin Bull 2:57.22 and third-placed Kiara Keating 3:26.21.

In the half marathon, Adrian Beer was the first male to cross the line while for the women, Emma Ward took line honours.

Results were as follows:

Men – 1st Adrian Beer 1:10.55, 2nd Josh Bail 1:12.00, 3rd Liam McGuane 1:14.09.

Women – 1st Emma Ward 1:27.28, 2nd Elle Price 1:28.52, 3rd Lauren Isles 1:33.20.

The 10km race for men was won by Jackson Coates in 34.19 minutes followed by Anthony Meek 35.26 and Jordan McGarry 35.59.

In the women’s race, Elizabeth Winter won in a time of 36.20, followed by Carmel Sutherland 41.04 in second and Tamai Bremner third in 42.40.

The 5km race results were as follows:

Men – 1st Richard Gleisner 17.47, 2nd Peter Charloton 17.58, 3rd Manaia Bremner 18:10.

Women – 1st Charlotte Staaks 19.09, 2nd Rylee Foreman 20.26 and 3rd Makayla Lowther 22.33.

The 2.5km race for men was won by Occy Hayes in 9.06.447 followed by Jaxon Leishman 9.06.51 and Lenny Jansz third in 9.09.

For the women, Miranda Jansz finished first in 10.06, Alaska Bremner second in 11.07 while Eva Phan was third on 11.15.
