McDonald wins Summer Cup

NEIL McDonald has taken out the Summer Cup at East Framlingham Golf Club.

McDonald finished the cup on 118 points, ahead of second placed Ben Lee on 111.

Last Saturday’s stableford round (round five) was won by Ben Lee in A grade on 39 points, followed by Craig Lee 38, Peter Harlock 37, Trevor Blackley 36 and Wayne Bellman 36.

B grade was won by Peter Sanderson on 43 points, followed by Dave McLaren 39, Henry Waugh 37, Peter Clark 37 and Trevor Williams 36.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Glenn Tracey, 6th Craig Lee, 7th Peter Harlock and 9th Shaun Giblin.

The social winner was Henry Waugh and the 4th (eagle hole) went to Shaun Giblin.

Last Wednesday, January 28, saw 55 players contest the twilight series.

The men’s scratch was won by Eli McLeod and Gerard Eccles, both on 36.

The men’s handicap went to Ross McLeod 41-10-31 while the men’s non-handicap scratch was won by Leon Lavery 60-20-40.

Julie Mahney finished on 47 to win the ladies’ scratch and Maureen O’Loughlin took out the ladies’ handicap with 52-19-33.

The longest drive for women was Brooke Lenehan.

Nearest the pins: 2nd and 3rd Nick Kenna, 4th and 7th Jim Lewis, 5th and 8th Gerard Eccles, 9th Peter Harlock.

The raffle was won by David Henderson.

The 2023 Super Sunday three-person ambrose attracted 123 players to the East Framlingham Golf Course on January 25.

The annual event continues to grow in popularity, with the early groups hitting off from 7.30am.

Congratulations to the winners, Billy Edis, Joe Kenna and Ryan Humphrey, who finished on a net score of 50.833.

Paul Farnes, Bradley White and Callum Henriksen finished second on 51.667.

They were followed by John Bouwman, Tyson Kerman and Will Kenna 52.339.

Murray Smith, Simon Knee and Ryan Andamson 53.167.

Josh Brown, Darren Attrill and Ian Brown on 53.5.

On January 24, round four stableford saw Trevor Blackley finish on 37 points to win A grade from Bruce Knee 36, Ben Nevill 35, Ayden Bosse 33 and Craig Lee 32.

B grade was won by Ben Lee on 39 points from Brad White 37, John Eccles 35, Neil McDonald 35 and Anthony Eccles 34.

Nearest the pin: 3rd Bruce Knee, 6th Daniel McIan, 7thy Harry Trigg and 9th Neil McDonald.

The social winner was Neil McDonald.

The twilight series on January 21 saw Ben Woodward finish on 37 to take out the men’s scratch while Ethan Wyss 40-8-32 won the handicap and Jason McSwain (47) the men’s non handicap scratch winner.

The ladies’ scratch was won by Linda Kenna on 46 and the handicap went to Adriana Quattrocchi on 49-22.5-26.5.

In the junior event, Tyler Hunt won the under 14 scratch on 80.

The longest drives went to Ethan Wyss and Helen Sharpe.

Nearest the pins: 1st and 9th Ben Woodward, 2nd Ian Brown, 3rd Glen Tracey, 5th Ethan Wyss, and 7th/8th Peter Harlock.

Twenty-six ladies played stableford/January monthly medal last Tuesday, February 3.

A grade was won by Sue Henderson on 38 points, followed by Gwenda Halseed on 36.

Cheryl Carroll won B grade on 43, with Lyn Cook the runner-up on 41.

C grade was won by Wendy Batten on 43, followed by Theresa Bant on 41.

Nearest the pins: 4/13 Julie Mahney, 9/18 Sue Cassidy, 7/16 Wendy batten and 3/12 Jo Fischer.

The super pin 8th went to Gwenda Malseed.

The January monthly medal winners will be a play off between Cheryl Carroll and Wendy Batten.
