National honours for The Six C’s
THE Six C’s has been awarded the Resilient Australia National Business Award 2025 for its ground-breaking program, “Building Resilience from the Ground Up: Community Emergency Management Planning (CEMP).”

The award was recently presented at the Resilient Australia National Awards ceremony in Melbourne.
The ceremony celebrated the nation’s leading initiatives that strengthen community resilience to disasters and emergencies.
The award recognised the significant impact of The Six C’s CEMP program in empowering regional and rural communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
Delivered to more than 17 communities across Victoria (including some with populations of fewer than 100 people) the program has helped councils and communities build long-term capacity, capability and confidence in emergency management.
Co-founder and director Mat Deans said receiving the national award was an extraordinary honour and a testament to the partnerships that underpin the program’s success.
“This award belongs to the communities and councils who opened their doors to us and allowed us to walk alongside them,” Mr Deans said.
“Their commitment to strengthening resilience is what makes programs like this possible. We are humbled to see local leadership and community effort recognised on a national stage.”
The Six C’s CEMP program focuses on authentic community engagement, tailored planning, and building trusted local relationships that endure long after the project concludes.
Its people-centred approach has been widely acknowledged as an innovative model for community-led disaster resilience in Australia.
This national recognition reinforces The Six C’s commitment to supporting communities across Australia to become safer, stronger, and more resilient - before, during, and after emergencies.
