Mr Stevic brings to the role more than 18 years of senior leadership experience across community and Aboriginal organisations, government and international settings and will start at WRAD Health on April 27.

His senior leadership roles, including CEO positions both in Australia and internationally, have built experience in strategic planning, financial stewardship, program development and stakeholder engagement.

Originally from New Zealand and with qualifications in management and human resources, Mr Stevic has lived and worked across the Pacific (Cook Islands, Fiji) and Southeast Asia (Thailand) and Australia, including the Northern Territory and most recently regional Victoria at Swan Hill as chief executive officer of Wamba Wemba Aboriginal Corporation.

His previous leadership roles include CEO of the Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organisation.

Mr Stevic has experience across health and sport sectors, working with governments, community organisations and peak bodies to strengthen programs and build sustainable systems

He is drawn to organisations that deliver meaningful outcomes for communities and is motivated by the opportunity to work with a committed team to strengthen services to continue to support the community.

“I’m looking forward to joining WRAD Health and working alongside a passionate and committed team,” he said.

“The organisation has built a strong reputation for delivering essential services across the region, and I see a real opportunity to continue strengthening that impact.

“My focus will be on supporting the team, building organisational capability and ensuring WRAD continues to deliver meaningful and sustainable outcomes for the community and supports people facing complex challenges.”

WRAD Health chair Helen Taylor said Mr Stevic stood out in the recruitment process for his values alignment with WRAD Health, his strategic capability, and his genuine commitment to integrated, community-led care.

“Alister has worked in a number of settings and his experience will connect well with an alcohol and other drug and general practice setting,” she said.

“He has a wide range of experience and very good communication skills.”

Mr Stevic replaces Mark Powell in the role.
