The new crossing, which will serve Port Fairy Consolidated School and St Patrick’s Primary School, will include posts, upgraded footpaths and an improved pram crossing to help cut the risk and severity of crashes, keeping students, parents, cyclists and residents safe.

According to Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora, traffic will be managed with single lane closures and a reduced speed limit during the works – anticipated to take around three weeks.

“This upgrade is jointly funded by the state and federal governments as part of the Regional Pedestrian Safety Package under the federal government’s Road Safety Program,’ Ms Ermacora said.

“We have listened to parents, teachers and this school community and now we’re building safer crossings.”
