Ninety years young

BIRTHDAY cake was on the menu at this week’s meeting of the Koroit Senior Citizens Club – with two of its members celebrating special birthdays.

Both Maureen Gavin and Doreen Lenehan recently celebrated their 90th birthdays and the two were keen to share a special cake with their fellow club members.

The sprightly duo say they have both been “well spoilt” by family and friends, with special parties, dinners and get-togethers.

“I mentioned to a friend of mine (over a wine) that I’d never ridden a Harley before so guess what I did for my 90th? Thankfully I never said I hadn’t ridden a horse – because that’s definitely not on the cards,” Maureen (who celebrated her milestone on September 26) said.

Doreen, who has family living as far as Queensland, said she was special guest at a party in Warrnambool after turning 90 on October 8.
