North defeat Bloods for top spot
A WELL earnt 24-point victory over the previously undefeated Terang Mortlake has seen North Warrnambool move to the top of the ladder in Hampden League senior football.

The Eagles travelled to DC Farran Oval in Mortlake last weekend for the highly anticipated ‘top of the table’ clash between the two previously undefeated sides in season 2026.
The Eagles went out firing in the opening term, utilising the breeze and kicking 4.4 while holding the home side to just one major for the term.
The Eagles then extended their lead to 27 points by the main break before a relatively even third term saw both teams unable to add a major to the scoreboard.
Three goals each in the final term saw North hang on for a 24-point victory, 10.7.67 to 6.7.43.
Best for the victors in a strong team performance were Angus Noske, Tom Keast, Baillie Keast, Charlie Jellie, Bailey Jenkinson and Adam Wines.
Goals went to Charlie Jellie, Charlie McKinnon and Josh Walker (two each) with singles to Zac Everall, Jackson Grundy, Bailey Jenkinson and Sebastian Shiells.
In other round seven matches, Koroit were big 124-point winners over Cobden, Portland downed Camperdown by 45, the Blues overcame Port Fairy and South held on for a 34-point win over Hamilton.
In the Open netball competition, the Roosters continued their season dominance to date, retaining their unblemished record with a 77-32 goal win over Hamilton.
Meg Kelson, Darcy McFarlane and Sophie Smith were best the Roosters, with Darcy McFarlane shooting 33 for the match, Emma Buwalda 25 and Molly Sevoir 19.
In other games, Terang Mortlake defeated North Warrnambool 45-42, Port Fairy def Warrnambool 45-41, Portland def Camperdown 50-42 and Koroit celebrated a 75-28 win over Cobden.
