Overnight relay 2027
THE 2027 Relay for Life will return to an overnight format in Warrnambool.
Warrnambool event coordinator Jodie Carey said teams (and individuals) could now enter online for next year’s event, which will run overnight from 6pm on Friday, February 12 through until 10am on Saturday, February 13.
The much-loved event will return to its overnight format for the first time since 2017.
Cancer Council Victoria is calling on the Warrnambool community to get behind the milestone event and register now, following the recent launch of the 2027 Warrnambool Relay For Life dedicated webpage.
As always, the 2027 Relay For Life is again expected to bring local families, friends, schools, sporting clubs and workplaces together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against cancer.
Warrnambool Relay For Life committee chair Jodie Carey said the return to an overnight format would make next year’s event especially significant.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring Warrnambool Relay For Life back to its traditional overnight format for the first time in 10 years,” she said.
“Relay has always been about community. It’s a chance to come together to celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost and support local families impacted by cancer.
“We’re inviting everyone across the Warrnambool region to join us. Whether you’ve taken part before or are considering Relay for the first time, we’d love to see you there as we mark this special occasion.”
Run across the country, Relay For Life is a fun and moving community event that raises vital funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.
As teams keep a baton moving throughout the night, participants come together to show that when it comes to cancer, no one has to face it alone.
Every lap completed and every dollar raised helps Cancer Council deliver life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services for Victorians affected by cancer.
With the 2027 website now live, locals can start registering teams, fundraising and preparing for what promises to be a memorable Relay For Life event.
“We’re looking forward to the whole of Warrnambool coming together and joining the thousands of Victorians who take part in Relay For Life each year to help make strides towards a cancer-free future,” Jodie said.
“With Warrnambool returning to an overnight Relay for the first time in a decade, now is the perfect time to gather your friends, family or colleagues and be part of this landmark community event.”
