THE Respect 2040 Partnership is inviting expressions of interest from photographers and community members to be part of an exciting new image library project that will celebrate the diversity of people, places and communities across the Barwon South West.

The project will create a collection of authentic, inclusive and respectful images that can be used by local governments, community organisations, businesses and community groups throughout the region.

The image library aims to reflect the real people of the Barwon south west region.

Women and gender diverse photographers are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to be involved in the project.

Successful photographers will be paid for their work and will have the opportunity to showcase their skills while contributing to a valuable regional resource.

Community members of all ages, genders, cultures, backgrounds and abilities are also invited to express their interest in being photographed.

Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West CEO Jodie Hill said the image library would help ensure local organisations have access to images that genuinely reflect the communities they serve.

“This new image library is an exciting project. It’s about celebrating and recognising the wonderful diversity that exists across our region. It’s about real people and real places,” Ms Hill said.

“The images we use and see matter. They shape how we see ourselves, how we see others and the stories we tell about our communities.”

“This is an opportunity to challenge harmful stereotypes about people based on their gender, age, culture, ability or any other characteristic. The image library will be a resource that reflects the richness and diversity of our communities.”

The project has been developed in consultation with community representatives to ensure the image library is inclusive, representative and aligned with gender equality and violence prevention.

The image library will be launched during Women’s Health Week in September.

People interested in becoming a photographer or model can download an Expression of Interest form from the Respect 2040 website: www.respect2040.com
