Professor Eckard to lecture at Sheepvention
PROFESSOR Richard Eckard will facilitate the second inaugural Peter Schroder Lecture at this year’s Sheepvention Rural Expo.
Members of the Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society are thrilled to have Professor Eckard on board for the August event.
Professor Eckard is director of the Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre at the University of Melbourne.
His ground-breaking research focuses on carbon farming and accounting for carbon-neutral agriculture, managing extreme climate events and exploring options for agriculture to adapt to a changing climate.
Professor Eckard has developed the first greenhouse gas accounting tools for agriculture, which have become a nationally-recognised framework.
His expertise extends globally as he serves as a science advisor to governments in Victoria, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the EU as well as international organisations like the International Livestock Research Institute and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation.
“We are very excited and honoured to have Professor Eckard join us as part of Sheepvention Rural Expo,” Sheepvention president David Botterill said.
“He will undoubtedly provide a great insight into his topics of specialty.”
Professor Eckard’s lecture will take place in the Red Shield Hut at the Sheepvention Rural Expo on Monday, August 5 from 8.30am-9.30am.
