Push for pathways continues
CONNECTING Warrnambool members are now exploring what they believe may be an “achievable” first stage of a future walking and cycling connection north of Warrnambool.
According to group leader Elise McKinnon, early discussions indicate that a nature-based pathway following parts of the Merri River and surrounding countryside may have potential in the next few years.
“It would not initially extend all the way to Bushfield or Woodford, but it could provide a meaningful beginning for North Warrnambool residents and create a foundation for future connections,” Ms McKinnon said.
“Any pathway would remain subject to landholder agreement, environmental assessment, planning, engineering and funding.
“However, a number of landholders, environmental organisations and community members have already expressed an interest in helping investigate what may be possible.”

A dedicated community engagement process will follow as this work develops.
“Connecting Warrnambool would particularly welcome hearing from North Warrnambool residents interested in helping create a lasting network of active pathways, nature connections and recreational places for local children, families and future generations.”
