Race to finals is on

SEVEN teams remain in the hunt for a finals berth after the penultimate round of the Warrnambool and District senior football competition on Saturday.

At the Walter Oval, Kolora-Noorat upset finals hopeful South Rovers with a 15.8.98 to 10.8.68 win.

Caleb Kavanagh, Nick Castersen and Oscar Ritchie were best for the Power in their third win of the season, with Ritchie bagging six goals.

For South Rovers, Sandy Robinson, Kurt Lenehan and Dylan McCutcheon were best, with Robinson kicking four goals.

At the Mack Oval, Russells Creek scored a 12.12.84 to 8.5.53 win over Timboon.

Dylan Shircore, Andrew McMeel and Kyle Moloney were the Kangaroos best in the win, with Lochie Chadderton kicking three goals.

Bayley Thompson, Lyndon Alsop and Sam Thompson were best for the Demons, with Martin Angus kicking three goals.

At Panmure, Nirranda scored a 15.11.101 to 7.12.54 win over the home team.

Brendan Richardson, Dylan Parish and Mathew Lloyd were best for the Blues, with Parish kicking seven goals.

For Panmure Michael Boyd, Zeke Reeves and Nathan Pratt were best, with Lachlan McLeod and Nicholas Kemp kicking two goals each.

At Davidson Oval, top of the ladder Allansford had to work hard for its 13.9.87 to 11.7.73 win over Old Collegians.

For Allansford, Robbie Hare kicked five goals, with Zavier Mungean, Jonah Maher and Bradley Edge best.

Jacob Brooks, Will McConnell and Paul Campbell were best for the Warriors, with Jake Dowell kicking four goals.

Merrivale had the bye.

The top four teams are all locked in, with Old Collegians, South Rovers and Merrivale all on 20 points and fighting for fifth spot.

In the A grade netball, Allansford had a 57-50 win over Old Collegians.

Jessica Rohan, Lisa Pender and Emma Stacey were best for the Cats, with Rohan shooting 40 goals and Lilly Sanderson 17.

For Old Collegians, Hannah Garner, Maggie Kline and Paige Lenehan were best, with Kline shooting a match high 41 goals.

At Panmure, Nirranda had a big 62-22 win over the home team.

Cloe Marr, Matilda Fitzgerald and Sophie Adams were best for the Blues, with Adams shooting 26 goals and Steph Townsend 19.

Best for Panmure were Chloe McKenzie, Sophie Melican and Sienna Wickenton, with Wickenton and Steph Bant shooting 11 goals each.

Kolora-Noorat shored up fifth place with a strong 72-32 win over South Rovers.

Emily Forrest, Ailish Glennen and Tara Elliott were best for the Power in the win, with Elliott shooting 47 goals and Forrest 18.

For South Rovers, Georgia White, Ashlee Pavletich and Renae Mauriks were best with Grace Mugavin shooting 15 goals.

At Mack Oval, Russells Creek had a 48-33 win over Timboon.

Alice Cann, Ruby Evans and Jenna Cahill were best for Russells Creek, with Cahill shooting 24 goals.

Best for the Demons were Bethany Hallyburton, Laura Rosolin and Taya Hanegraaf, with Brianna Gass shooting 17 goals.

At Merrivale, the home team had a 107-11 win over Dennington.

Best for the Tigers were Paiyton Noonan, Tahni Porter and Mia Mills, with Noonan shooting 71 goals and Chloe Lovell 35.

Sophie Ryan, Charlotte Dumesny and Alice Peart were best for Dennington, with Charlotte Dumesny shooting five goals.

In this week’s final round of WDFNL matches, Timboon host South Rovers, Merrivale meet Kolora-Noorat at the Noorat Recreation Reserve, Nirranda play Old Collegians at Nirranda and the top two teams, Allansford and Russells Creek, clash at Allansford.

Panmure has the bye in the senior football and will play Dennington at Dennington in the A grade netball.
