Riders wheel in to Koroit
ALMOST 2,000 cyclists rode their way in to Koroit earlier this week as part of this year’s Great Vic Bike Ride.

The ride, which began in Mortlake on Monday morning, will take participants on a five-day journey, covering 364 kilometres.
According to chief executive of Bicycle Network, Alison McCormack, participants will have stop-overs at three towns and will enjoy “loop days” on two of those days.
“The 2025 ride features Great Ocean Road coastlines, cliffs and winding country roads – this is what bucket-list biking is all about,” she said.
“We have 1900 people joining us, including over 1500 bike riders, volunteers, staff and contractors.
“It’s an amazing adventure for our big extended family which also includes 200 volunteers and a further 200 staff and contractors. Local communities, councils and authorities will play a vital part in helping us create one of the world’s great bike rides.”
Day one last Monday saw the group travel from Mortlake to Koroit.
Tuesday was spent as a ‘loop ride’ from Koroit to Port Fairy, Tower Hill and along the coast.
Day three on Wednesday took cyclists from Koroit to Port Campbell along the Great Ocean Road.
“We will spend Thursday doing a loop ride from Port Campbell, stopping at the 12 Apostles and Timboon before heading to Camperdown for the final day on Friday.”
The TAC (Transport Accident Commission) is the new naming rights partner of the iconic Great Vic, with the message ‘Be Seen, Be Safe. Share the Road.’
“The TAC is proud to partner with Bicycle Victoria for this ride; an event that encourages safe, sustainable travel and brings communities together,” TAC chief executive officer Tracey Slatter said.
“Our message is simple: Be Seen. Be Safe, Share the Road, because every rider deserves to enjoy the journey and return home safely.”
