Round seven for women’s league

ROUND seven of the Western Victoria Female Football League saw a full round of matches played with all three games being one-sided encounters.

The closest match of the day saw Hamilton score a 75 point win over Cavendish at Melville Oval, 12.7.79 to 0.4.4.

Best for Hamilton were Emily Huglin, Mimi Chun, Milla Bornas, Kirby Vise and Ava Cottle, with Chun kicking five goals and Vise four.

Jessie Jennings, Lucinda Star, Sophie Herrmann were best for Cavendish.

At the DC Farran Oval in Mortlake, Terang Mortlake had a 19.17.131 to 2.2.14 win over Branxholme/Wallacedale, which marked the Bloods first ever win in this competition.

Tayla Bell, Maddison Wallace and Indiana Cameron were best for Terang Mortlake, with Wallace bagging six goals, Cameron four and Bell two.

Britney Schuller, Amanda Busuttil and Bonnie Farrugia-Gleeson were best for Branxholme/Wallacedale, with Jacqui Robinson kicking both goals.

At the Reid Oval, South Warrnambool scored a thumping 26.20.176 to 0.0.0 win over Warrnambool.

South Warrnambool shared the goals around, with Alyssa Johnstone kicking four goals and Kiara Dean, Sophie Wrigley, Sarah Roach and Stella Bridgewater kicking three each.

Maya Netherway, Alyssa Johnstone and Amaya Postlethwaite were best for South.

Best for Warrnambool were Tayla Hill, Tilly Paton, and Star Jackson.

Tyrendarra had the bye.

This Sunday’s round of matches sees Branxholme/Wallacedale hosting Warrnambool at Branxholme, Cavendish playing Terang Mortlake at Cavendish with the top of the ladder clash between South Warrnambool and Tyrendarra being played at Friendlies Society Park.

Hamilton will have the bye.
