Saints celebrate

THE Koroit township is this week celebrating five premiership victories after last weekend’s Hampden League grand final round.

The Saints are marching strong and proud following a huge day at Reid Oval last Saturday.

The Saints dominated the final quarter of the 2026 senior football decider, defeating ladder leaders the North Warrnambool Eagles by 13 points.

The opening term gave the large crowd an indication of what was to come, with neither side giving an inch on the scoreboard; the quarter finishing on 14 points apiece.

And after a tight second quarter, the two sides headed into the main break with the Saints just a goal in front.

Tight defensive pressure and frequent turnovers also resulted in a tied scoreboard by three-quarter time.

In the final term, the Eagles were restricted to just three behinds while the Saints marched to victory, adding two goals four.

Best for the victors were Dallas Mooney, Hamish Dobson, Mac Peterson, Jack Block, Jett Grayland and Will Morrison – with Mooney and Peterson taking ‘best on ground’ honours.

Best for the Eagles were Jackson Grundy, Harry Keast, Reece Scoble, Angus Noske, Luke Wines and Jarryd Lewis.

The Saints also celebrated on the netball courts, taking out four premiership victories.

In the division two game, Koroit defeated ladder leaders South Warrnambool 38-35 (best on court the Saints’ Ella Gleeson).

In the 17 and unders, Koroit defeated South Warrnambool 36-27 (best on court Saint Indi O’Connor).

In a nail-biting 17 and under reserves final, Koroit defeated Warrnambool 32-31 (best on court the Saints’ Elsie Finnigan).

And in the 15 and under match, Koroit defeated South Warrnambool 37-25. Best on court was awarded to Ellie Dobson (Koroit).
