Saints on the march
KOROIT’S senior footballers hung on for a narrow three- point win over Hamilton last weekend to make it two from two in season 2026.

Coming off a strong 23-point victory over the South Warrnambool Roosters on Good Friday, last year’s grand finalists were met by a fiercely determined Kangaroos - who finished the 2025 home and away season on the bottom of the Hampden League ladder with just two wins.
Spectators at Victoria Park on Saturday were treated to a relatively one-sided affair in the opening quarter which saw the visitors add 3.4.22 to the scoreboard while keeping the Saints to just one behind.
Just 10 points separated the sides at the main break before the visitors again took off in the third term, adding 2.6 while restricting the home team to just three behinds.
The Saints rallied in the final term to take the win by just three points, 6.10.46 to 6.7.43.
Other round one Hampden League winners were South Warrnambool (over Cobden), Portland (over Port Fairy), North Warrnambool (who defeated the Blues) and the Bloods celebrated a 73-point victory over Camperdown.
Round one of Hampden League Open netball saw the Saints’ big winners over Hamilton 102-27, due largely to an impressive 93 goals from shooter, Rebecca Hicks.
Other Open grade winners were South Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Terang Mortlake and Warrnambool.
