Sergio receives top Rotary honour

POPULAR local Rotarian Sergio Bacchetti was last weekend rewarded for his ongoing service and commitment to the Rotary Club of Warrnambool Daybreak with a Paul Harris Fellow.

Sergio Bacchetti (pictured with wife Jenny) was thrilled to receive a Paul Harris Fellow.

The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow is the Rotary foundation’s way of expressing appreciation for a contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs.

It is named after the foundation’s founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with business associates in 1905.

Rotarians often designated this special award as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation.

Last weekend’s presentation to Sergio was a popular one among his Warrnambool Daybreak peers.

As a charter member of the group, Sergio has been with Warrnambool Daybreak since July 29, 1998.

He has served on several committees over the years, has twice been president, and was District 9780 legal advisor for a number of years.

According to fellow members, Sergio is always quick to volunteer for working bees and club events, and keeps members entertained with fishing and caravan adventure stories.

Last Sunday’s presentation ceremony took place during the club’s annual changeover meeting which saw outgoing president Ian Harper welcome incoming president Ali Dennis.
