Small trains leave big impression
VISITORS to last weekend’s model train show in Warrnambool were impressed by the range and quality on display.
Held at St Joseph’s Primary School last weekend, the show attracted a steady stream of visitors across both days, with an estimated 1200 guests across the two days.
The event was organised by members of the Warrnambool Model Railway Club.
The club’s exhibition manager, Mick Lamb, said they were thrilled with the weekend.
“We had 26 stands, which was a mixture of exhibits and traders, along with a replica of Puffing Billy on a trailer out the front which was also popular,” Mr Lamb said.
Two awards were presented at the event – the McSween Brothers Award (in honour of the late Wayne and Kevin McSween) which was won by Chris Finney (Shinkansen Parade) and the Greg O’Flynn Award which went to Colin Konig (Slate Valley Tourist Railway).
The Warrnambool Model Railway Club currently meets at the Merrivale Drive clubrooms every Tuesday from 7pm. All welcome.
